Geometric Properties of Bisector Surfaces
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper studies algebraic and geometric properties of curve–curve, curve– surface, and surface–surface bisectors. The computation is in general difficult since the bisector is determined by solving a system of nonlinear equations. Geometric considerations will help us to determine several distinguished curve and surface pairs which possess elementary computable bisectors. Emphasis is on lowdegree rational curves and surfaces, since they are of particular interest in surface modeling. c © 2000 Academic Press

Generation of 2-d Parametric Surfaces with Highly Irregular Boundaries
The conventional methods of boundary-conformed 2D surfaces generation usually yield some problems. This paper deals with two boundary-conformed 2D surface generation methods, one conventional approach, the linear Coons method, and a new method, boundary-conformed interpolation. In this new method, unidirectional 2D surface has been generated using some of the geometric properties of the given b...
متن کاملComputing surface offsets and bisectors using a sampled constraint solver
This paper describes SCSolver, a geometric constraint solver based on adaptive sampling of an underlying constraint space. The solver is demonstrated on the computation of the offset to a surface as well as the computation of the bisector between two surfaces. The adaptive constraint sampling generates a solution manifold through a generalized dual-contouring approach appropriate for higher-dim...
متن کاملPlanar Bisector CurvesBased on Developable
This paper presents an algorithm to compute the bisector curve of two planar paramet-ric curves. We reduce the problem of computing a bisector curve to that of intersecting two developable surfaces. Given an input curve C (t) = (x(t); y(t)), the corresponding developable surface D C(t) is constructed symbolically as the envelope surface of a one-parameter family of tangent planes of the parabol...
متن کاملProperties and Applications of the Simplified Generalized Perpendicular Bisector
This paper deals with the Simplified Generalized Perpendicular Bisector (SGBP) presented in [1, 2]. The SGPB has some interesting properties that we explore. We show in particular that the SGPB can be used for the recognition and exhaustive parameter estimation of noisy discrete circles. A second application we are considering is the error estimation for a class of rotation reconstruction algor...
متن کاملOn the Convergence of Metric and Geometric Properties of Polyhedral Surfaces
We provide conditions for convergence of polyhedral surfaces and their discrete geometric properties to smooth surfaces embedded in Euclidean 3-space. Under the assumption of convergence of surfaces in Hausdorff distance, we show that convergence of the following properties are equivalent: surface normals, surface area, metric tensors, and Laplace-Beltrami operators. Additionally, we derive con...
